With a current Mental Health Care Plan, you will receive a rebate of $96.65 for up to 10 sessions.
The current fee is set below the APS recommended fee average for Registered Psychologists in NSW which is set at $280. This is to ensure affordable and accessible psychological support for individuals.
Couples therapy sessions are charged at $220 per 50 minute session.
Unfortunately, couples therapy sessions do not attract a Medicare rebate, however, some private health insurers cover couples therapy.
The NDIS fees that are usually applicable for psychology are Capacity Building funds, specifically, the Improved Daily Living support category, which is line item 15_054_0128_1_3.
NDIS sessions are charged at the NSW set rate of $222.99 for a 50 minute session.
If you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan, you can receive a Medicare rebate of $96.65 per individual therapy session. To be eligible to receive psychology services under Medicare, you must be referred to by your General Practitioner (GP).
In some instances, you may be eligible to receive a rebate from your private health insurer for individual therapy or couples therapy sessions. It is recommended that you check with your health fund to see if psychology is covered.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice.
If less than 24 hours notice is provided for cancellations or rescheduling, the full fee of the session will be charged (this includes appointments that have been missed/non attendance).
